Paa - an unfurled story!!

'Cinematic' is the common word I hear often as friends discuss about "Paa"..but, this film has a very broad perspective which most of us have realized. The movie is full of life and arouses your keenness till the very end.

The movie is ushering with positives..A few that moved me..
  • There are plenty of instances which make you emote and understand the mental setup of a 12-year old victim of Progeria. Apart from the sullen feel you get, there is lot more to learn from "The gynecologist" of the movie - Vidya Balan. She essayed a wonderful role as mother of Auro...A bundle of boldness with indigenous subtle feelings. Her bold portrayal made me wonder if such strong-willed women still exist?? Vidya has done a neat job and is definitely an inspiration for mothers with differently-abled children..She has invariably taught us to fight against the odds with a soothing smile..Although she gained this level of confidence only because of her onscreen doting mom, who inspired the gynec to fight all odds.. Nobody can forget the marvelous performance of Arundathi Nag as "Bum"..
  • Secondly, the "young politician" played by Abhishek Bachan, committed to make the nation corruption-free...The intention of the politician remains undeterred unlike real-life politicians who would have done everything possible to keep the media and people ignorant about his 'progenic' child...Good performance Amol..But this character needs to have shown some more emotion towards his brilliant wife..After all, the single mother must've handled so much of societal and emotional pressure to bring up her child
  • Am surely not doing justice to this blog if I do not appreciate the child prodigy of the year Auro alias Amitabh Bachan...A significant performance by the Shenshah of bollywood...The movie gets life maily from this character..An intelligent, adamant, childish boy of 12 with a physical appearance of 80..Bravado!!! Auro also scores 100 on maturity by keeping up the word he gives his mother..(पिछ्ली से पिछ्ली से पिछ्ली mistake).. He portrays a deep sense of understanding in forgiving his classmate who once made him feel low and relates the same by asking his mother to forgive his dad..Auro portrays multiple characteristics without giving us a hint that a 60-year old is actually playing a 12-year old boy..
  • The classmates of Auro have also put in great efforts and they are very apt ...Especially Vishnu has shown the frustration of a typical school going kid uninterested towards studies...(दो मर्द एक ही घर में नहीं रह सकथे)...And the resemblances of Vishnu and his dad which Auro uses to compare himself with his paa is really inspiring..Kudos to the director..
The entire movie has only necessary elements used to the fullest of their potential, except for Paresh Rawal, the ex-politician dad of Amol, keen towards giving a clean image of his son, who had just begun a political career...A person with typical politician mindset, turning a new leaf towards the end for the sake of his son and trying a bit of unessential comedy..(औरो मतलब औरोबिन्धो??)..
But the feminist inside me strongly says that the title of the movie should have been "Maa", after all its the mother who has taken pains to give life to her child, fighting all odds..:)

Paa is definitely an entertaining and watchable movie and it leaves you with sweet memoirs of the naughty young boy..

Life full of deadlines!!

The first place I worked with interest and seriousness – VGCS..It has taught me a new way to perceive LIFE..."You can't turn back the clock. But you can wind it up again".. A famous saying of Pruden...The practical essence of it I realized in VGI..Every second is important and so much is happening in this world in a second's time ...

Seldom have I used this word – deadline, in the 21 years I have spent in this world...But from the moment I stepped into VGI it became part and parcel of my day-to-day life...Dreams of missing deadlines haul me almost everyday...Am sure it is totally out of your scope if u have never heard about this :)

Sometimes I question myself if I am scared of these deadlines and will I succumb to its severity?? But I pacify myself that its going to be the order of the day till the moment I send my "Final e-mail" ( u might wonder what it is...just another frequently used keyword in VGI)...

But is it only in VGI that we face this deadlines??? Well...don't ponder much.. Unknowingly most of us face some sort of deadlines in our day-to-day life :) Some real life examples... catching a train just about to leave the platform...hmm this is the situation when u are in short of seconds to meet the deadline (reminded of Jab we met...The multitude of emotions in Kareenas face...Wow!!), next the hurried homework we did in our school days..after all ur efforts u end up doing imposition for submitting it late:) , and a split-second's difference resulting in missing a catch in cricket, are typical scenarios... You will be filled with thoughts in such situations...will I catch the train or not? will the teacher appreciate me for my job? Will I play the next match or not? ... These thoughts last for few minutes only and in a sense it is good...next time u ll not worry too much when you miss this deadline..

But ultimately missing the deadline does not mean u are dead .. And thats the reality..Now I have learnt to live with this..And am taking things lighter now and always am ready for the unexpected to happen... Thanks to VGI...every second means a lot more than it seems to be :)

YSR--The hearthrob of millions

The most popular CM of recent years, Y.S.Rajashekara Reddy, passed away in a tragic helicopter crash..This news topped the charts in every channel from the dawn of 3rd September 2009.
The hope of the uneducated masses, known for his perseverance and kindness became a victim of the poorly maintained helicopters of the nation..

What a sullen end to the most revered and respected CM of this age...An astute politician with exemplary devotion, inclined towards upliftment of the poor masses , YSR made an entry into politics at the age of 29. A doctor by profession, he ruled the peoples heart by love and not with desire for money. He took immense care in protecting the rights of people irrespective of their social status. A devout leader totally for the masses who lost his life on the way to secure the well-being of poor peasants. Unlike most corrupt leaders of the nation, who set their foot on politics to rob the nation and its citizens, YSR stood for the poor man's rights..
This dynamic leader had a great interest in politics right from his student days. Born and brought up in a family totally inclined towards public service, YSR remained an astute politician keen to protect the well-being of people. He had keen inclination towards being a fore-runner in adversifying humane policies towards the shattered peasants in recent years.

The death of this simpleton spread across the country just as another 'tsunami', killing hundreds , just out of shock...This was the impact he held in the minds and hearts of people..

Is it the unglorifying act of God that such a dynamic and straight forward leader of the masses has been snatched away from this nation, even when the country needs such an exemplary leader?

Well this can be termed as nothing but FATE...May his soul rest in peace..

Happy anniversary blog!! :)

Oh god...!! I do not believe it...finally its a year since I made a beginning...This makes me wonder what I have accomplished for the past 12 months...To be very frank I have not done anything great but I consider this as a good beginning :) Collar up dudette ...Finally I found time and energy to put forth my views though there is a long way to go..Hmm..just hope that I find more time for this long-time passion of mine :) Several topics to speak on but seldom I find responsive energy favoring my passion... Just hope towards making this a habit ..One post a week should be fine..I keep tuning my mind and hope things go as per my plan:)

Yeh Delhi hai mere yaar!!!

दोसती....True to the word, even today exist several people in this busy capital of the second most populated country of the world.Sweltering heat beaconed us in the Indira Gandhi international airport..We reached the lounge wiping the drops of sweat, thanks to the soaring temperature. We tried to get in lieu with the environment(No other options in hand ).As we walked towards the parking , a sudden glance of mine proved worthy...A wide smile welcomed us .Ah! what an easy search in this vast airport, abuzz with busy people......Year's since we met Gudiya didi..The moment i saw her tears of joy rolled down my eyes...Uncleji had also come to receive us.The very first question she asked me was "Karthik कब आह रहा है?".I was simply spellbound...How sweet of her to remember him,I wondered. We gathered our luggage and went towards Didi's office... Enquiry about each of our family members surrounded the air....Sweet memoirs of our first meeting rocked my brain.Didi has not changed over the years....The clock struck five and we proceeded towards our ultimate destination-Dilshad Garden...My first drive in the capital...What a planned city,I wondered. Before i could further admire the beauty of Delhi ,I realised that we were struck at the same place for 15 mins..Thanks to the most irritating wait ....All credits to the Delhi TRAFFIC!!!...The ambiance was sullen...
Ah...what a warm welcome we got at uncle's place.Aunty was simply superb...she was shocked to see that we could converse in Hindi...The evening was spent with calmness in a nearby park accompanied by two little friends(Initially I mistook them to be kids..But later realised what they were :))...The two days we spent at their place was toooo good...The time we spent playing badminton and uno was lively and we did not know how 48 hours had passed off so easily...

And then started our journey towards Shimla...Lot of questions bothered us...How will the arrangements be??What kind of people are we destined to meet? Will the journey be tiresome??Will the climate be suitable?? But thanks to Panicker's and the people who travelled with us..Things were really better than we expected...All our doubts were clarified by the positive experience we had...The seven days was just fantabulous!!!

The first day was full of introductions and inhibitions....The very firstperson we identified in the first few hours in the bus was the non-stop speaker just behind us...I seriously wished he gave me some time to catch up my pending sleeptime...And my immediate neighbour,my silly or rather sleepy brother was unfazed by Mr.Noisy's non-stop lecture :)...Slowly we got to know each of the families in the bus....The first spot Pinjore garden helped us to explore people better...We found volunteers to click photographs for us and so did we with others... And post lunch the bus got still noisier ...Thanks to Mr.Noisy's interaction with other people and also to the children on board...Took few minutes for us to mingle with the kids...Each one was different...The first one we befriended happened to be from our city...Noisy little prankster..And slowly we got to know one another in the bus and that too by names... By the end of the day we got familiar with all the names and their background ...

Kufri-The next destination..1000's of kms above sea level, this place is worth a watch !!
Horse riding was the
only option to reach its peak..

The next day our journey towards Manali began..The beautiful deodar and apple trees were a feast to our eyes. And all throughout the journey towards that place it was like they were welcoming us to their land...Huge trees with widespread branches...What a lovely sight :)We started our sight seeing with Rohtang!!

The next day we experienced our first snowfall...Rohtang pass, a beautiful tourist location and famous for being the location for 'Roja'...Pudhu vellai malai...ringing in your mind ??? Snowy peaks spread far far away...Though the journey towards it was difficult, the snow faded our tiredness :) Really nostalgic...

The next destination was Chandigarh.."Oh my god, how hot it is here" was my first reaction the very moment we stepped out of our bus..The travel had been hectic...Rooms were allotted and each of us were feeling insecure that the wonderful journey was coming to an end...But all the tiny tots (of course including me) were keen to have some more fun..The day had started only then for us..I and Kar playing uno with the newly wed couples and Mr.Noisy's daughters..Real fun..That was the last night of the wonderful trip..The next day morning was filled with speeches rendered by the crew..Kissi ko bhi nahi choda...Thanks to Mr.Noisy for his effort...

Don't know how the 7 days had passed..Towards the end of the tour we made several new friends and the best part is all of us decided to stay in touch and touchwood we do :)

What else to say?? I am surely longing for such wonderful trips to happen again and again...Hope such occasions are destined not only for me but also for u:)

Fifth phase of elections...Today!!

The D-day is finally here...May 13 don't how many people were waiting for this day to franchise their votes...This is the second time I voted...And the only person from my family to vote this time...No other members name was in the voting list...What an irony?? My parents have been voting for so many years now and I wonder how their names were left out this time...Anyways I left home to do my duty as soon as possible and thereby escape from the queue...But,as usual there was a long queue in the polling booth...I waited patiently in the queue for my turn...Suddenly I noticed that the ID card I had in hand was my sisters. All the way back I came home to pick up my card.Though the polling booth is at stone's throw from my residence , leaving the queue to fetch my ID card meant paving way to some more people to vote ahead of me...The corporation school where i voted had two wards...no 71 and 72...As in the previous time I voted ward 71 was deserted but since I belong to ward 72 I could not bear the fruit from that solitary ward...:)...When i returned back with my card few more people were assembled to cast their franchise ahead of me...Well...cant make samjauta to those elder ladies ki aunty i stood before you so pave way for me...That will end up in a chaos similar to a fish market...:)...After sometime my turn came...My finger was brushed with a blue colored ink....then I voted to the candidate of my choice...Wah!!! Gives an unique pleasure .... Cast your franchise and experience t..

Actress Revathy...a multifaceted person...!!!

Born as Asha Kelunni and rechristened as Revathy , to mark her entry into filmdom, this petite actress has managed to cast a spell on innumerable people's hearts . Unlike other actresses, she chose to grab people's attention not by skin show but by her unique acting skills. She was one of the few actresses with a girl-next-door image and someone you instantly feel you know her for ages..She has acted in about 90 movies in various languages like Tamil,Malayalam,Hindi and Telugu.Revathy is a proud owner of five film fare awards.

The first time i saw her was in a movie ,some 12 years ago.The movie happened to be "Mouna Ragam" where she portrayed a newly married girl haunted by her lover's memory, who dies on the very same day when they decide to marry. Just mind blowing!!! The minute expressions in the whole movie...Ah the thought itself makes me feel nostalgic...This further aroused me to know more about her and see the other roles she played...Down the memory lane ,I don't know how many times I have watched "Punnagai Mannan",another classic where Revathy played a demanding role. May it be "Anjali",where she acted as the mother of a abnormal child or "Thevar Magan" where she played an innocent village belle ,she suited the character very well.
Not only serious roles suit her who can forget her comedy in the flick "Magalir Mattum"??Just fantastic..

Apart from being a wonderful actress on screen ,Revathy is a humanist in real life. The number of NGO's she is associated with proves that.an ardent believer in reaching out to people her charm and polite way of conversing is her highlight. She is a volunteer in Sevalaya, The Banyan, Ability foundation and Vidya Sagar. Truly one in a million ,who does not publicise the welfare activities she does.Simply superb Revathy!!..Let you be revered as a epitome to lead many more people to such organisations...

Well just information about this sweet lady and her activities is inspiring...Isn't it?? Am waiting to have a glimpse of her ...May that day come soon in my life...!!!

Decisions..

Decisions are hard to make, when you are the one being directly or indirectly affected by it. But when you get an opportunity to help others decide you yourself will experience the flow of ideas you get.But in your case you are in short of ideas...There is nothing to worry...Happens with everybody but differs from person to person in the way they handle it.
Whenever you are determined to make a decision analyze the situation first...Make a note of the positive and the negative points before making a conclusion...Discuss with your well wishers. They might give you valid points.Consider their views but finally decide considering all the points.

Chill in Summer.....

Soaring Temperatures...Raising mercury levels...Heat waves throughout the day-A typical scenario of summer.the summer season lasts for about 6 months in India. Located at latitude of 22 o 00' N and longitude of 77 o 00' W India experiences high temperatures from March to August. Maximum temperature is recorded at the month of May and few parts of the nation experience a mild rainfall at this month.

With the raising temperature , it is quintessential to protect ourselves from diseases ranging from Cold to Chicken Pox.Well...as we all know " Prevention is better than cure" .So inorder to protect yourselves from diseases streamline your food habits. Here are a few tips for the same.

DO'S and DONT'S
  • Drink enough water everyday.
  • Take bath twice a day.
  • Do not take spicy food.Prefer food items with high water content like fruits.
  • Do not drink cold water when you are sweating. You might catch a cold.
  • Avoid traveling in the noon.At unavoidable circumstances use an umbrella.
  • Protect yourself with a sun screen lotion whenever you step out of your home.
  • Wear light colored cotton wear.
  • Like us even plants need water. So water them at regular intervals.
  • Mop the flooring of your house with water in the evening. It makes the floor cool.
Will be updated soon!!!

Encouragement....!!!

Flatter me, and I may not believe you. Criticize me, and I may not like you. Ignore me, and I may not forgive you. Encourage me, and I will not forget you. Love me and I may be forced to love you.

Don't these verses of William Arthur inspire you to encourage people?? Am sure they do...Man is a social animal. He loves to be revered and respected in the society for whatever he does. From his family to friends each of them play a major role in upbringing his talents.Only encouragement can make him reach greater heights and furthermore develop his talents. That is the power of this word ENCOURAGEMENT.
Have you ever wondered why a kindergarten school teacher compliments in every page of the homework of a child??This sort of encouragement makes the student more focused towards his work to earn the much cherished compliments..And the pride the child gets on being complimented is priceless....Isn't it??Well , I am really proud to mention that because of my maths teacher in college Mrs.Anuradha this thought sprouted in my mind. How many teachers correct homework at college level and compliment for the work you do??She does...She is a living epitome showing how you can encourage children.

Cricketers are revered next to god in India..It is only because of the support they receive from people the sport is so popular in our nation. Not only cricket many other sports men have attained great heights only due to encouragement of their family, senior players and people all over the country. So behind every successful person there is a wave of encouragement.Spread on this wave to make new achievers!!!

I can trust my friends These people force me to examine myself, encourage me to grow.
Friends are a major source of encouragement. They brief you about your positives and negatives.Am so happy to have such rare gems as my buddies. In fact a few friends are the pillars of strength who constantly encourage my new spree for blogging..A special thanks to them..Well guys do not stop with reading this post..Do encourage me by posting your comments!!!

Since new developments are the products of a creative mind, we must therefore stimulate and encourage that type of mind in every way possible.

Violence -A threat to fair elections??

The nation is facing Elections 2009...The phaseII polls in almost 12 states of the country was scheduled today..Thousands of security personnel were deployed at each of these states by the election commission to hold free and fair elections...At sensitive areas like Assam,Bihar,Manipur and Jharkand STF was also put on charge...In Manipur, the maoists had warned the civilians to boycott the vote...But people came in large numbers to franchise their right despite the tense situation...But it is very unfortunate that the maoists have indeed stood up to their word....Really pitiable...Well...the ultimate victory is in the number of people who came to cast their right despite threat to their life.Manipur recorded a 60% polling...Indeed remarkable!!

Shanno...another victim of Corporal Punishment

"There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again" said Elizabeth Lawrence....

Each child is special in its own way.The learning capacity of each of them varies . And is it not the responsibility of the teacher to train weak students to make them compatible with the stronger ones ?? But it is really disheartening to note that instead of showing compassion and love to children few teachers resort to corporal punishments...These have become hard realities students face day by day.
Look at the case of Shanno, a second standard student of Municipal corporation of Delhi at Bawana. Shanno's teacher Manju made Shanno stand in the murga position after Shanno failed to recite an English alphabetical rhyme. And when Shanno asked for water she was kicked and her head hit the wall and her nose started bleeding.
This is not only the case of Shanno.Several children are subjected to horrendous punishments and many of them are affected physically as well as mentally because of this. There is an ardent need to stop this.School heads must be cautious that this case is not repeated again.
After all children are our own wealth....

Tamilnadu...An enchanting Tourist destination......

Breathes there the man, with soul so dead,
Who never to himself hath said, "This is my own, my native land!" said Sir Walter Scott. India is a land of great diversity. It is one of the popular destination for tourists all over the world who throng to have a glimpse of the natural wealth and heritage of the nation .

Located at the southern part of India is Tamilnadu. Tamilnadu tourism has much in its store for its tourists, it is a land of culture and traditions, where majestic monuments, temples and bewitching beaches are present to excite you. This state is surrounded by the bay of bengal and famous for its natural beauty and chromatic beaches. Tamilnadu boasts of possessing the world's second largest beach - 'The Marina'. Apart from marina ,the kanyakumari beach lies at the southern part of Tamilnadu and Elliots beach near Mahabalipuram.

A view of the Marina beach

Apart from its natural beauty , Tamilnadu is also famous for its artistic beauty. The temples here are poignant and a feast for people who have an artistic fervor. Located at almost every part of the state , these temples are epitomes of the importance rulers like Cholas,Chera and Pandiyas gave to architecture.Every year, thousands of tourists within India and all over the world throng to enjoy this artistic beauty.Particularly the rock temple at Mahabalipuram is renowned for its Rathas and shore temple. The temples in Tamilnadu are under the surveillance of the ASI(Archaeological Survey of India) and are under constant renovation process.

My post will be incomplete if i dont mention about the south Indian food and festivals . Tamilnadu is famous for idlis, dosa, pongal, vada with chutney and sambar. The traditional festivals like Diwali and Pongal are celebrated with great fervor . These festivals are a delight in peoples lives.
Music plays a major role in these festivals. Classical music is very famous here. Sabhas are filled with enthusiastic audiences thronging to listen to classical songs .

The Tinsel world !!!

The wish of every middle class Indian is to become famous and earn crores of rupees in a short period with less efforts from his side. And CINEMA is the magical world that will fulfill his desire. Not all succeed in making this dream come true.It requires strenuous efforts from the individual in the form of passion, investment and hard work.Every day hundreds of people leave their hometown and seek shelter in suburbs like Mumbai & Chennai where there is ample scope for getting petty roles in movies.Well ,we shouldn't deny that stalwarts of indian cinema like Sivaji Ganesan acclaimed success this way only.

Doyen of Indian cinema 'Sivaji' Ganesan

But where is this heading to?? Youngsters influenced by westernization and the craze to earn more and become famous are ready to do any roles. The mental and physical torchure young women undergo is unimaginable. Today several movies showing the plight of people who wanted to make a mark in this field have come out in movies . Movies like Vellithirai(Tamil), Fashion, Page3 show the darker side of cinema. Humanitarianism has lost its value .

Every individual wants to surpass his counterparts and encounter success. But success doesn't knock anybody s door all of a sudden and hardly do people understand that.To accomplish success int his field there is an ardent need of hard work , effort ,luck and above all talent . However only few of our young actors seem to have talent. Most of them lack individuality and the craze to do meaningful cinema. The young generation has to understand the urge to make meaningful cinema which will improvise the society. The importance given to skin show needs to be shifted towards movies which regularize our society.Such movies are welcomary...!!!
